When you are making the steak you need to season it well. You do not need anything other than salt and pepper to make a great steak. If you start with a quality steak you should season it with just these options. You should opt for small grain salt such as table salt which will break down and will help bring out the flavor in the steak. Once the steak has been reasoned allow it to rest for one hour. This will allow the steak to reach room temperature and allow it to take in some of the seasonings.
